WRX100 FAQ
How long does the WRX1000 elastic rubber cord last?
The WRX1000 elastic rubber cord is designed to be durable, but its exact lifespan depends on how intensively it is used and how well it is maintained. With regular, normal use and proper care, the cord can last for several years.
How can I pump the water out of the WRX1000 tank to reduce the resistance?
To remove water from the tank, use the pump provided or a siphon. Make sure that the tank still contains enough water after removing some, so that your workout runs smoothly.
How often should the water in the WRX1000 tank be changed?
The water in the tank should be changed approximately every six to twelve months, depending on how often the machine is used and the water quality. This helps ensure optimal performance and prevent algae or other deposits from forming.
How can I tell if the water in the WRX1000 tank is cloudy?
Check the water visually on a regular basis. If it looks cloudy or discolored, this could be a sign of algae growth or other contamination.
How can I connect the WRX1000 to smartwatches or heart rate belts?
If your device is Bluetooth or ANT+ compatible, you can connect it directly to compatible smartwatches or heart rate belts. You can find the exact steps in the user manual.
How durable is the WRX1000 water tank?
The WRX1000 water tank is designed to withstand the strain of rowing workouts. However, avoid sharp impacts and do not put foreign objects into the tank.
Are the heart rate belt and chlorine tablets included with the WRX1000?
We apologize for any confusion regarding the items included with our water rower. Heart rate belts are not included as standard. Please refer to the binding list of items included on the order page. We have already taken steps to correct this change in the manual. Thank you for your understanding.
Is the WRX1000 compatible with the Sportstech Live app?
Yes, the WRX1000 is compatible with several apps. It works very well with Kinomap and the Sportstech Live (STL) app. You can connect your rowing machine to these apps via Bluetooth and enjoy workout tracking and real-time feedback.
Initial Setup & Maintenance
Initial setup - Preparing the water
Please use distilled water only! Regular tap water contains minerals and impurities that can damage your machine over time.
Fill the water tank with distilled water only.
Initial setup - DO NOT use chlorine tablets when filling the tank for the first time
Important: Do not put a chlorine tablet in the tank during initial setup! Chlorine tablets contain chemical components that can be corrosive. They may only be used occasionally to clean the water tank (see the “Maintenance” section).
Using chlorine tablets incorrectly can damage the internal bearings and other sensitive components.
Initial setup - Starting the machine
Make sure all parts are assembled correctly.
Check that the tank is properly closed before switching on the machine.
(Especially important – This information is missing)
Maintenance - When should you change the water?
Change the water no later than after 6 months, or as soon as you notice visible contamination (e.g. discoloration, algae growth or a bacterial film).
If you do not use the machine for an extended period, empty the tank completely to prevent germs from forming.
Maintenance - Using chlorine tablets for cleaning
Chlorine tablets are intended only for cleaning the tank – never use them during regular operation!
Dissolve one tablet (167 mg sodium dichloroisocyanurate) in 20–25 liters of water.
Leave the solution to work for at least 30 minutes, then rinse the tank thoroughly with distilled water.
Maintenance - Avoiding exposure to sunlight
Avoid exposing the tank to direct sunlight, as this can encourage algae growth.
Additional care tips
Return the handle to its starting position after each workout. This extends the lifespan of the elastic band.
WRX1000 Troubleshooting & Quick Fixes
Maintenance instructions
Only distilled water may be used to fill the tank. The chlorine tablet should only be used if the water becomes discolored. If you put a chlorine tablet in clean water, you risk the screws in the water tank rusting. How often the water needs to be changed depends on how often the machine is used and the environment in which it is set up. The water should be changed after about six months, or if you notice discoloration or signs of algae or bacteria! NOTE: Use distilled water! If you do not use the machine for an extended period, drain the water. Avoid placing the tank in direct sunlight; this can help reduce how often the water needs to be changed. Return the handles to their original position after each use. This helps extend the lifespan of the rubber band. Water purification tablets are suitable for cleaning and keeping the water clean. Add one tablet to 20-25 liters of water and mix well. Add one tablet to the water tank every 2-3 months. The chlorine tablet contains 167 mg sodium dichloroisocyanurate and should not be in constant contact with metals.
The tension knob on the WRX1000 does not work or has no effect – why?
The “tension knob” on the WRX1000 is the dial on the water tank marked with the numbers 1–4. It adjusts the base resistance of the rowing machine. Many users assume it is faulty, even though the knob is working correctly.
There are two chambers inside the water tank. Turning the tension knob moves water between the active and passive chambers. The more water in the active chamber (level 4), the higher the base resistance. At level 1, the base resistance is correspondingly lower.
The knob clicks into four settings. You can turn it clockwise to increase the resistance or counterclockwise to decrease it. Ideally, set the desired level before starting your workout.
The machine also uses dynamic water resistance: the faster and harder you pull, the higher the resistance – just like in a real rowing boat. When you row slowly, the difference between the levels is often barely noticeable.
Important: The tension knob only changes how the water is distributed in the tank. The total amount of water separately affects the maximum resistance available. A higher water level means more resistance overall.
How do I replace the frayed pull strap?
Tools required: A Phillips screwdriver or the included tool, an open-ended wrench, 10 mm
Follow these steps to replace the pull strap on your WRX1000 rowing machine:
1. Loosen the rubber band nut and pull the bolt out of the wooden frame (caution: the rubber band is under tension).
2. Remove the side panel (either the left or right one).
3. Pull the strap out as far as possible (Note: The pull strap will not unwind completely from the roller because it catches on a component).
4. Loosen the pull strap until the mounting screw is visible. Then remove the mounting screw.
5. (This step can also be done at the beginning) Remove the panel by loosening the 4 screws that attach the wooden cover to the frame.
6. Remove the rubber grip from the handle (it fits very tightly). You can use a small screwdriver and a little dish soap and water. If necessary, the rubber grip can also be replaced.
7. Now slide the pull strap to the side and remove it completely.
8. The new pull strap can now be attached to the handle or first wound onto the large roller. If you want to attach it to the large roller, loosely wrap the pull strap around the roller 3-4 times before tightening the retaining screw. Pay attention to how the pull strap was routed around the roller before removal. Comparing it with a photo taken before removal may be helpful. When the rubber band is pulled back toward the attachment point, the pull strap should wind onto the large roller.
